NE Medicaid Expansion: The Race is On (AGAIN)

Back on January 17, 2013, I published an article here at the GiN website entitled “NE Medicaid Expansion: The Race is On.”  I followed up with an entire series of articles detailing why Medicaid expansion is an uncommonly bad idea.  Those articles were widely read and, I believe, effective in helping to prevent Medicaid expansion […]

A Tribute to GiN Founder Shelli J. Dawdy

We could begin this eulogy with a recitation of the usual facts and statistics, but we won’t. This is an unusual remembrance for an unusual lady: Shelli J. Dawdy. She admonished us to keep this short because, in her opinion, long obituaries grow boring. We have no doubt she would most like to be remembered […]

Why the Electoral College? Because State and Regional Diversity Matters.

Where you live, your day-to-day experience gained through interacting with your physical environment, influences your political viewpoint. The Founders realized this. When the Electoral College was born through compromise in 1787, each former-colony-turned-state had a unique history and perspective giving rise to significant political differences between it and its neighbors. The Founders had to resolve […]

What’s Wrong With the Electoral College?

What’s Wrong With the Electoral College?

Interest in our system for electing the President of the United States is high. I actually understand why voters feel disenfranchised by the Electoral College as it is presently constituted within 48 states, but the media and political party “powerful” aren’t explaining how the system works, why it was designed as it was. Instead, many people are working to circumvent or abolish it altogether. Read full articleWhat’s Wrong With the Electoral College?

Who’s Attempting to Legislate Morality?

We encourage visitors to read the transcript from or listen to the audio of a brief statement from Pastor Bryan Clark of Lincoln Berean Church: “As I’m sure you’re aware, this is an election year. I’m sure you’re also aware that we are very divided as a nation. Our Pledge of Allegiance says that we […]

Fourth of July, 1776: America’s Own Brexit

My son was gaming online with a number of what I call his “virtual friends” shortly after it was announced that Britons had voted to leave the European Union (EU).  Unbeknowst to my son, many of the players in his RP were British.  Upon learning of the outcome of the election, the gamers began to […]

NE Primary 2016: Last Minute Voter’s Guide

You could say I threw together this article for my family and myself — because I did. So, you’ll forgive that it is rather haphazard and not at all typical of how we handle anything like election guides here at GiN. It’s less even-handed and more opinionated. Bottom line is, I thought since I was […]
