The Tenth Amendment Resolution (L.R. 292) entered by State Senator Tony Fulton is scheduled for a hearing Friday, February 19, in front of the Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee.
The hearings process on that day begins at 1:30pm.
Right now L.R. 292 is the first item on the schedule for the day. (That might change however. Check the site for updated information.)
IT IS CRITICAL THAT THERE BE:
1) MANY SUPPORTERS IN ATTENDANCE
Making room in your schedule to be at the Capitol for this hearing is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than any Tea Party you may have attended.
Unfortunately, the Sovereignty Resolution is considered controversial in the Unicameral. It is not guaranteed to pass through the hearing process to the Senate floor for a full vote.
Because too many of us have kept our attention focused on Washington, D.C. and not our state government, it appears the Senators do not realize how support there is for Sovereignty. All the Senators need to know that they will be supported if THEY support this resolution.
2) EFFECTIVE testimony.
Effective testimony, according to the resolution's sponsor (Sen. Fulton) and others with legislative experience is...
- Representative of the citizens
- Prepared to anticipate contrary points of view
Testimony is being coordinated by Linda R. of Grassroots in Nebraska. Linda has had previous experience in this area, additional contacts who have, and a legal background. If you would like to see this bill pass out of committee, we ask that you show your support by being present and working to get as many other people to attend the hearing as you possibly can.
A large number of random or redundant testifiers can actually "backfire".
3) PUBLIC INPUT through written statements.
Besides attending the hearing so there is a large show of support, a large number of signed statements of support collected and entered into the record would (and has been) effective.
We are urging everyone who is attending the hearing to write a statement of support for L.R. 292, sign it, and bring 12 copies on the hearing. (Yes! I did say 12.)
If you would like to see sample written statements to get you started, I am working on adding some to the site. CLICK HERE to view.
4) VOLUME OF PHONE CALLS, EMAILS, LETTERS from Nebraska citizens to the members of the Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee and to their own State Senators showing support for the bill.
The most effective contact you can make would be polite and and to the point. If you would like to see some bullet points regarding the reasons for supporting Nebraska Sovereignty, please CLICK HERE.
Information will be put out as frequently as possible, and more information added to the website. For now, you can locate contact information for your Nebraska Senator HERE.
