UPDATED March 8, 2011: This article is in reference to the 2010 Election for a State Legislature seat, NOT for the 2011 City Council Election.
As Linda noted in her article “2010 Election NE Unicameral: Show These 3 Senators the Door“, we’ve learned over the last year and a half through working on and researching legislative issues in Nebraska that the quality of our legislators is in definite need of improvement.
Of course, election time is the opportunity to make that happen. Candidates require all kinds of help ranging from donations to volunteers.
There are still plenty of opportunities to provide the assistance needed before November 2 and we wanted to point out that District 46 candidate for the NE Unicameral, Chad Wright, is looking for volunteers for the last stretch in his campaign, particularly for SATURDAY, October 23, at 10am.
Those interested in distributing Chad’s campaign literature within his district by walking door to door on Saturday are asked to meet in the Walgreen’s parking lot at the corner of 27th & Vine Streets.
Those interested in helping who cannot make it on Saturday or wish to help in some other way, can contact Chad’s campaign manager, Ryan Post. ryan [at] electchadwright [dot] com or 402-269-7339.
It is important, once again to note that GiN does not formally endorse particular candidates. We urge all voters to do their own homework and investigate candidates for themselves. We are putting Chad Wright forward as a candidate we believe is worth considering for the Legislature because from our conversati0ns with him and the information available to us, his principles appear to be consistent with GiN’s mission statement and overall principles.
It is important to reiterate that we will be monitoring elected officials, including our State Senators. Should any Senator vote in ways that are inconsistent with our mission statement or principles, we will not hesitate to publicly point it out, regardless of whether or not we brought that individual’s candidacy to the attention of our readers and members.
